  1. To power the Leapster Explorer, you need to use 4 AA alkaline batteries1. To replace the batteries, you need to2:
    1. Using a small flat-head screwdriver, turn the silver bolt on the back of the Leapster to the left until it pops up.
    2. This will release the battery compartment, giving you access to the batteries.
    3. Once the bolt pops up, slide the battery compartment down. Do not pull up on it.
