Microsoft is no longer playing around when it comes to requiring every Windows 11 device be set up with an internet-connected account. In its latest Windows 11 Insider Preview, the company says it will take out a well-known bypass script that let end users skip the requirement of connecting to the internet and logging in with a Microsoft account to get through the initialization process of a new PC.

Microsoft released a new Windows Insider build of Windows 11 to its experimental Dev Channel today, with a fairly extensive batch of new features and tweaks. But the most important one for enthusiasts and PC administrators is buried halfway down the list: This build removes a command prompt script called bypassnro,

With this change, any new installation of Windows 11, including clean installs, must be connected to the internet and signed in with a Microsoft account before reaching the desktop for further setup.

The infamous "bypassnro" command, which allowed users to skip connecting to the Internet and signing into a Microsoft Account, is being removed.
