After being shut down by GameStop in August 2024, Game Informer, America's longest-running and beloved gaming magazine, has seemingly come back from the dead.

Game Informer had been publishing magazines and online articles for over 30 years before it was summarily shut down by its old owner GameStop in 2024. Nearly a year later to the day, the venerable gaming publication announced its return to publishing both online coverage and its print magazine.

"The new owners insisted on the idea of Game Informer remaining an independent editorial outlet," he wrote. "They felt just as strongly as our team did that the only path forward was with an editorial group that made 100 percent of the decisions around what we cover and how we do so,
