Joe Pye weed (Eutrochium spp.) is a must-have plant for North American native plant and rain gardens. While this tough perennial is a relatively low-maintenance plant, it isn't entirely problem free.

If you have a low-lying area in your garden that tends to stay damp, Joe-Pye weed will likely do well there. It's also tolerant of a range of soil types, including clay and sandy soils.
