The Trump administration is preparing to sell eight federal office buildings, shrinking considerably a previous effort to offload hundreds of buildings after it faced widespread criticism.

Less than two weeks after posting - and abruptly pulling down - a list of federally owned office buildings to be sold, the U.S. General Services Administration has released a much shorter list that includes one property in Houston.

The list of federal buildings up for sale has returned and includes just one Houston property. But that building was targeted for sale as far back as November 2023.

The Trump administration recently slashed the number of federal office buildings it plans to sell, with the General Services Administration now accepting nonbinding bids on eight properties versus the more than 440 initially listed.
