Nintendo will retail the Switch 2 for $449.99 at launch, which is significantly higher than the original Switch's $299 price tag. A separate bundle that includes the new "Mario Kart World" game will also be available for $499.99.

Nintendo has unveiled the first details about the Switch 2 console, its follow-up to the Switch, and several new games players can soon get their hands on. The Switch 2 will release on June 5 and cost $449.99, the company announced Wednesday morning.

Two former marketing leads think it would be very "unconventional" for Nintendo to release the Switch 2 alongside the new Mario Kart game because the company usually promotes its more boundary-pushing projects as launch games, a la The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild or Super Mario 64.

Mario Kart World is an open-world racing game in the style of Forza Horizon, in which fields of 24 racers compete across a huge map with different regions. It has many features associated with more realistic racing games, including a photo mode, dynamically changing weather conditions, and time-of-day that will affect the racing experience.
