Naturally, sequels were announced, with Sony Pictures outlining a three-film arc. Part 2, Across the Spider-Verse, released in early 2023, however, it ended on a divisive cliffhanger. The stunning final moments are set to be resolved in the third and final installment, though there’s no quite telling when we may see it.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse star Jharrel Jerome has given a disappointing update on the upcoming threequel. The animated film was originally set to swing into cinemas in March 2024, but was taken off the Sony release schedule in July 2023 and is still yet to receive a release date.

Despite officially announcing the threequel's directors last month, work appears to be progressing slowly on Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse as one key cast member is still waiting to hear from Sony.

The one thing that is clear is that the movie isn't rushing to the finish line. This has been confirmed by the fact that many of the voice actors have affirmed that they haven't yet recorded their lines, which while alarming isn't soul-crushing news as generally voice work is done towards the end of production.
