The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 also promises to improve AI performance on devices, due to featuring a faster NPU and twice the shared memory compared to the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. As such, Qualcomm claims that the chip will allow for 44% faster AI performance for devices with the chip.

In October 2025 Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 8 Elite, making a switch in its mobile hardware and putting the Oryon chip at its core (pardon the pun). That hardware has poured into flagship devices like the OnePlus 13 and the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, but now Qualcomm is preparing for what comes next.

Qualcomm could launch the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset at an event on April 2 as the successor to the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.

The CPU part of the new Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip includes a single Kryo Prime core clocked at up to 3.2 GHz and several Kyro Performance cores clocked at up to 3.0 GHz. According to the company, the chip offers a 31 per cent improvement in performance and 39 per cent better power efficiency compared to last year’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip.

According to the latest rumors, Qualcomm might not use the Snapdragon 8s Elite name and go with something more familiar.
