With the Fold 1 having serious durability problems, the Fold 2 represented another chance for Samsung. And Samsung continued with the line in 2021 in the form of the cheaper ($1,800 upon release) Galaxy Z Fold 3. Samsung is now up to its sixth iteration of the Galaxy Z Fold, which came out in July for $1,900.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 was eligible for three major Android OS updates, the last of which was delivered in late 2022 as Android 13. The final One UI update was released in September of last year as OneUI 5.1.1, and since then, it has only received security patches.

Like last year's Galaxy Z Fold 5, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 performed well in CNET's video-streaming test -- which is good news considering entertainment is exactly what that giant inner screen is intended for. After streaming a YouTube video for three hours at full brightness on the main 7.6-inch screen, the Galaxy Z Fold 6's battery dropped to 82%.
