Samsung Electronics is set for a tough annual general meeting on Wednesday with shareholders frustrated by its failure to ride a boom in artificial intelligence that made it one of the worst-performing tech stocks last year.

Han Jong-hee, CEO and vice chairman of Samsung Electronics, apologized for recent declines in stock prices on Wednesday and vowed to make constant efforts to regain market leadership.

Samsung shareholders had slammed the company's management at a meeting for poor stock performance and asked for measures to revive the share prices.
