When Nintendo first unveiled the Switch 2 via a short teaser video in January, it felt the need to include a few seconds of footage of exactly one new video game running on the console: a new Mario Kart. This will be, numerically speaking, the ninth one, but it's very possible Nintendo calls it something other than Mario Kart 9.

We know that the Nintendo Switch 2 will have a larger screen because the teaser trailer showed it physically growing in size and losing much of its thick bezel. We don’t know exactly how big it will be, but rumors suggest between 7.5 and 8.4 inches across the diagonal — a significant increase on the original Switch’s 6.2-inch panel.

Likely: In 2017, there were two months between Nintendo's wider reveal of the Switch in January 2017 and that console's launch in March 2017. The same pattern would point to a June launch for the Switch 2, timing that also lines up with the conclusion of Nintendo's currently scheduled Switch 2 hands-on experiences.
