GameStop, which previously owned Game Informer, shut down the beloved magazine last August and laid off its entire staff after a more than 30-year run. The team teased a comeback last week, and has already published a series of new reviews for titles released during the magazine’s hiatus, along with a belated list of the best games of 2024.

Following its sudden closure in August 2024, long-running video game magazine Game Informer is officially back. The staff announced the news earlier today in an official blog post, writing, "The whole team has returned, and we can’t wait to connect with you again."

Gaming journalism stalwart Game Informer has risen from the ashes. More than thirty years after its debut issue back in August 1991, the media outlet was officially shut down by parent company GameStop in August 2024.

Gunzilla Games are the new owners and have indicated that Game Informer will remain an independent editorial outlet.
