The MacBook Pro's entry-level version features an Apple M4 chip with a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. Aside from the entry-level 13-inch model, which has an 8-core GPU, every new MacBook Air is equipped with the same silicon as the Pro.

Apple rarely offers you more for less, especially in its most popular products with the broadest appeal. It has perfected the measured, iterative year-over-year product cycle. But for the 13- and 15-inch M4 MacBook Airs, Apple has put new chips in its established design while shoring up the device’s biggest flaws and dropping the price by $100.

It’s been more than four years since Apple released its first computers built around processors it designed in-house. Apple Silicon has dramatically changed the Mac lineup, and not just because it walked away from Intel’s inefficient and often overheated platform.
