Classes are weeks away from beginning on campus, yet Maryland women’s basketball had one of its biggest crowds in years Wednesday night. The draw was twofold. The Terps were undefeated, the eighth-ranked team in the nation and have legitimate national championship aspirations.

A pair of undefeated Big Ten squads face off on Wednesday, Jan. 8 when the No. 8 Maryland Terrapins host the No. 4 USC Trojans at the XFINITY Center in College Park, Md.

The guard reached double figures for the 12th straight game, accounting for 13 points. Smikle’s output — coupled with guard Shyanne Sellers’ team-leading 22 points — earned No. 8 Maryland another conference win over Rutgers, 78-61, Thursday night at Xfinity Center.
