A Portland brand of cat food is being recalled in 12 states, including Washington, after a cat that ate it contracted bird flu and died.

Northwest Naturals is recalling a batch of its pet food after a cat died from bird flu, which was found in the cat food. Bird flu can be more severe in cats, experts say.

Authorities and Northwest Naturals have strongly advised consumers who purchased the recalled product to discard it immediately.
