So Penfield reached back out to Wright to build a second home. The then 91-year-old Wright said that though he had stopped designing homes, the request had come in “under the wire" and he would take it on but only because Penfield was a former client.

One of Wright’s most celebrated organic architecture achievements is Fallingwater house, a house built over a waterfall in Mill Run, Pennsylvania. Another masterpiece, the iconic spiral-shaped Guggenheim Museum in New York City, allows visitors to experience art in a continuous flow and is regarded as a modern architecture masterpiece.

In 1952, an Ohio art teacher and his wife visited Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin studio in Wisconsin. As Wright’s secretary gave Louis and Pauline Penfield a tour of the studio, the master architect himself popped out.
