A 50-year-old woman was hospitalized after San Diego Police said she suffered multiple foot fractures when a San Diego Metropolitan Transit System bus ran over her left foot in El Cerrito.

The incident occurred on University Avenue just west of College Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. The woman was walking down the sidewalk and leaned down to pick up a water bottle that had fallen into the street in front of the parked bus’ rear right tire, San Diego police said.
