You can now track other people through it as well as your gadgets, making it easier to coordinate meet-ups with friends or check that the kids have arrived home safely.

In the app on Android, you can tap the new People tab to show the locations of any contacts that are sharing their location with you. You can also switch to a tab that shows who you’re sharing your location with and gives you options such as changing the duration you share your location with someone.

To begin sharing your location with someone new, tap the plus (+) icon above the People tab, set the duration, select the contacts, and tap Share. You can choose duration options such as 1 hour, today, until you turn this off, or you can set a custom duration.
