Suppositories are solid medications that are inserted into the body. Different types of suppositories can be inserted into the rectum, vagina, or urethra (the tube where urine leaves your body).
<6yrs: individualize. 6–11yrs: ½ supp rectally once daily. Retain for 15–20 minutes. Results usually within 15 minutes to 1 hour; reevaluate if ineffective.
The pharmacokinetics of promethazine administered in oral syrup and rectal suppositories were highly variable, but, in general, the suppositories produced a lower C max and later t max than the syrup.
