Chewy's quarterly earnings and revenue exceeded forecasts as the online pet supplies retailer grew its customer base.

Chewy Inc.’s stock rose 4.9% early Tuesday after the online pet-product retailer blew past earnings estimates for the fourth quarter, buoyed by strong customer growth.

Chewy beat top- and bottom-line expectations for the quarter, posting a 17% gain in revenue and EPS up 56% from a year ago. The company’s number of active customers grew from a year ago, reversing a recent trend toward stagnation.
