A new study out of Stanford has presented the strongest evidence to date that a common vaccine could significantly reduce the risk of dementia.

Now, a study has found that low levels of LDL-C, or ‘bad’ cholesterol, may reduce the risk of developing dementia. Statins, a cholesterol-lowering medication, could reduce the risk of dementia further in people with low LDL-C.

Researchers at Stanford University found evidence that suggests the shingles vaccine lowers the risk of developing dementia. Evidence from the study suggested the vaccine cut the risk of developing dementia over the next seven years by 20%.
