Both are quick to use and easy to control. Chalk pastel are soft and can be blended with your finger or a cotton bud. Oil pastels are blended by applying one colour on top of the other.

Oil pastels have a waxy greasy feel to them but won't crumble like a chalk pastel. Pastels are a lovely medium to work with. Choose a colour and lean heavily when colouring the area you have chosen.
