Just days after the company announced the M4-powered MacBook Air, a version of the laptop with the M2 chipset has dropped to a new record low of $699. That’s $300 off the regular price. This is a variant with 16GB of RAM rather than the base model’s 8GB.

Still, the new M4 MacBook Air is impressively powerful. I put it through GeekBench's CPU test and got great results: a 3,778 single-core score, and a 14,992 multi-core score. That's considerably faster than any earlier Mac when it comes to single-core operation, and roughly on par with an M2 Max when it comes to multi-core operation.

The M4 MacBook Air starts at $999, and is available in Midnight, Starlight, Silver, and Sky Blue. It's sold through most electronics retailers, including
