On March 28, the FBI searched two homes belonging to Wang and his wife Nianli Ma, an IU Libraries analyst. IU terminated him the same day. Ma’s university page has since been removed and the IDS has learned that she was terminated as well.

AAUP chapter president Alex Tanford said Wang's misconduct allegations were minor and didn't warrant immediate termination from IU.

Lawyers for a fired IU professor and his wife say they are safe and have not been arrested after FBI raids on their homes. XiaoFeng Wang was fired on March 28, the same day his Bloomington and Carmel homes were raided by the FBI.
