PHILADELPHIA - The final round of the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships started off in historic fashion. Penn State’s 184-pounder Carter Starocci kicked off the finals and in the process became the first five-time NCAA Division I wrestling champion in both Penn State’s, and more importantly, the sport’s history.

Penn State standout Carter Starocci has a chance to make history with an opportunity to become the first ever five-time NCAA champion if he can win his final match on Saturday. Starocci took advantage of the “free year” granted to college athletes competing during the global pandemic and he's made the most of his opportunity with championships in 2021,
