MTN Group and Airtel Africa have struck a deal to share mobile phone network infrastructure in Uganda and Nigeria, they said on Wednesday, aiming to save on investments while still increasing service coverage.

Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Africa, Sunil Taldar said that the deal would significantly lessen the cost of expanding network coverage to new locations.

The partnership is expected to extend network coverage, especially in remote and rural areas, while improving the quality of mobile services
