Federal authorities want former state Sen. Justin Eichorn to remain in custody ahead of his trial for allegedly seeking sex with a 17-year-old girl, claiming the ex-Minnesota lawmaker lied about having access to a gun and arranged to cover up evidence that could be used against him in court.

A new court filing involving now-former Minnesota State Senator Justin Eichorn alleges he lied about having access to guns, and attempted to orchestra the removal of a laptop from his St. Paul apartment following his arrest for soliciting a minor.

Investigators found a handgun and ammunition while searching the apartment, but say in a post-arrest interview Eichorn said there was no gun there.
