Norfolk State graduate student guard Diamond Johnson was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Year, the conference announced Tuesday evening in the Chrysler Hall during the third annual MEAC BBT Awards.

Kierra Wheeler poured in 19 points as the No. 1-seeded Spartans outlasted a pesky second-seeded Howard team 68-56 Saturday afternoon at Norfolk Scope to clinch their third consecutive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament title and an automatic bid to the big dance. Wheeler was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

Norfolk State women’s basketball is the only DI HBCU to go undefeated this year in conference play, finishing 14-0 in the MEAC regular season for its first undefeated conference season in program history. Here’s a look at the numbers that have defined a historic run for the Spartans.
