The Red Sox released one veteran reliever Sunday — and were informed another is sticking with the organization at Triple-A.

Right-handed reliever Adam Ottavino has been released by the Boston Red Sox. The team announced the move just more than a month after Ottavino had reached a minor league deal with the club and then reported to big league camp.

Ottavino, 39, pitched for the Red Sox in 2021, appearing in 69 games. He fared pretty well, allowing just five home runs with 71 strikeouts in 62 innings. The Red Sox signed the 14-year veteran to a minor league contract in February, but he allowed six earned runs in five innings with five walks during spring training.
